Ride of Silence - Wednesday, May 21, 7:00 pm

On May 21 at 7:00 pm, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. The ride, which is held during Bike Safety month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways and honors cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.

Everyone--members and nonmembers are encouraged to participate in this free, no frills, 10 mile, 10 mph ride departing promptly at 7:00 pm from Newark Charter School on Patriot Way off Elkton Road just west of Christina Parkway/Rt.4 -- only access is from eastbound Elkton Road). All cyclists must wear a helmet, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. We ride as one group with no stops (assistance provided by authorities at junctions). Riders ride at their own risk and are required to sign a liability waiver form before the ride; WCBC assumes no liability for injuries. Ride Leaders: David Vispi, hangstr23@verizon.net and Ted Ryser, tedryser@comcast.net. For more info, visit rideofsilence.org.
