Purpose
Provide a club-approved award to ride leaders that lead a predetermined number of rides each year as a way to recognize their volunteer efforts for the club. These awards are contingent on sufficient funds available in the club treasury.

Policy
The Ride Captain can recognize ride leaders that have led a club-approved number of regular and/or multi-day rides or organized a major ride during the calendar year. The number of rides led will be determined at the January meeting. The award is typically a ride leader’s bike jersey, but can be any award of the Ride Captain’s choosing with approval by the executive committee. The executive committee must determine availability of funds for the awards.

Discussion
Regular rides are credited for one ride for each ride led, both for weekend and weekday rides. Regular rides only count if they are listed in the Tailwind. Multi-day rides are credited for one ride for each day of the event. Currently, rides publicized electronically are not considered WCBC rides unless they are in the Tailwind as well. Any ride in the Tailwind counts as a ride led, even canceled and rainout rides.

DEFINITIONS
